People in the News: Peconic Landing Expands Board of Trustees

Peconic Landing is proud to announce the appointment of three new members to its Board of Trustees, bringing Board leadership to its fullest complement since the inception of the organization.

Joining the Board are Claudia Ward of Bridgehampton, Eileen McGuire of Peconic and Paul May of Southold.

Peconic Landing’s 14-member Board of Trustees is responsible for ensuring the fiduciary integrity of the organization while driving optimal performance of services delivered to the membership of the community. The Board approves all operating budgets, annual operating plans, and strategic planning initiatives.

“A primary goal during my tenure as Board Chair has been the strategic expansion of our already extraordinary Board. The Peconic Landing Board of Trustees is a key strength of our organization due to the expertise, commitment, and professional experience of its members. Attracting Board members to Peconic Landing is easy, however, recognizing opportunities to strengthen areas of professional diversity and expertise with prospective members that meet Peconic Landing’s high standards of commitment and integrity – who are also mission-driven – was an exciting challenge,” said Sandra K. Novick, Chair of Peconic Landing’s Board of Trustees. “On behalf of the entire Board, we could not be more pleased to welcome our new Board members. We look forward to their contributions to the Peconic Landing community for years to come.”

The new appointments took place during regularly scheduled board meetings with terms starting in January 2018.

“When looking for candidates, the board was strategic in its search for new expertise to enhance the effectiveness of their already experienced team,” said Robert J. Syron, President and CEO of Peconic Landing. “We now have new perspectives on best practices in areas of compliance, legal, and technology which will help move the organization forward. Each of these individuals has a reputation for collaborative leadership – a Peconic Landing value at its core. I look forward to their guidance and insight, and welcome them to the Peconic Landing family.”

Claudia D. Ward enjoyed an established career in banking and relationship management offering expertise in client management related to credit, cash, and trust services.

In addition, as former Manager of Compliance and Risk Control Services for a client services group of The Bank of New York Mellon, Ms. Ward ensured compliance with bank regulations, policies, and internal audits while also overseeing client services training and education.

Ms. Ward founded and currently operates an independent photography business creating images showcasing the beauty of the water that surrounds us. Her work has been used in interior design projects and exhibited at Ashawagh and Guild Halls in East Hampton, the Water Mill Museum, the Hutchins Gallery, and in The White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton.

“Peconic Landing is a unique organization. In my 30 years in business, I have never come across an organization so completely focused on its mission, core values, and serving and protecting its members and staff,” Ms. Ward said. “There’s respect, affection, and a harmony between members, staff, and management that I wanted to be a part of. I am proud to be able to serve on the Board.”

Eileen is a former Director of AIG working with the Program Management Office, Federal Reserve Supervision Compliance and Customer Experience.
