Drink & Food in Greenport, NY

Normally the phrase is food and drink. But in Greenport, New York – all Long Island, really – the wineries, vineyards and breweries get just as many accolades as the farm-to-table dining. The weather and location make the region ideal for farming. From five-star restaurants to waterfront bars, Long Island has options to satisfy everyone. Greater Long Island contains more than 1,000 full-service restaurants spanning all cultures, including a few connected to world-famous chefs such as Tom Colicchio.

Vineyards that are bursting with grapes

Red, white or bubbles? It doesn’t matter with all the wineries on the Long Island! According to the Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau, there are currently more than 90 combined vineyards and wineries on the Island.

Coffee Pot Cellars

Coffee Pot Cellars is a small-production winery located on the North Fork, one hundred miles east of New York City. Their portfolio of artisanal, ultra-premium wines includes chardonnay, Riesling and rose.

Kontokosta Winery

Kontokosta Winery in Greenport is unique because it's on the beach. The vineyard is on a bluff overlooking the Long Island Sound and produces wines ranging from chardonnays to cabernets, showcasing the richness and variety of the region’s grapes.

Pindar Vineyards

At Pindar Vineyards, their award-winning wines are quite literally dreams come true. Founder Dr. Herodotus “Dan” Damianos helped create the winemaking industry on Long Island in the early 1980’s. And that dream has turned Pindar Vineyards into Long Island’s best-known wine producer.

Beer lovers find flavor on tap

While the North Fork is better known as a robust wine region full of award-winning vineyards, it is also home to dozens of craft breweries, cideries and distilleries offering beer and sipping options.

Pack a growler and head to Eastern Front Brewing Co. in Mattituck. This dog-friendly craft brewery was founded in 2015 and produces traditionally inspired brews!

Jamesport Farm Brewery offers farm-to-pint beer and cider made with ingredients grown on site using local hops, wheat, and barley. The 43-acreage farmland of Jamesport Farm Brewery was once a potato farm and is the perfect backdrop for parties and special events.

Meals that make your mouth water

Peconic Landing members Pat and Dennis Bischoff are fans Legends, where guests can move between an adjoined upscale American restaurant and a casual sports bar with 200+ beers.

Anker, a local, seasonal American seafood restaurant and market located in the heart of Greenport, highlights the best of North Fork farms and fisheries. The menu changes to reflect the day's catch and weekly harvest. Diners are greeted with beautiful views of the Peconic Bay from the upstairs covered deck.

Member Louisa H., loves to run into town for a quick bite, too. "I love to visit Greenport for a coffee at Aldo's or the Blue Duck Bakery, or clam chowder on the waterfront at Little Creek Oyster Company."

Greenport proves to be the hub of the North Fork foodie culture with many celebrated restaurants. Lucharito’s, Noah’s, The Frisky Oyster and First and South are all acclaimed restaurants on the East End.

Food is truly farm-to-table

On Long Island, farm stands line the roads and make it easy to stop and savor in-season peaches, tomatoes, berries, apples and more. Some of the stands are situated on Suffolk County farms that let you pick your own produce. You’ll also find Long Island farm stands selling fresh produce in the many farmers markets in the area like the Greenport Farmers’ Market, the only multi-vendor cooperative local market on the North Fork.

The Bichoff’s like Sep’s Farm Stand in East Marion on the North Fork. They work with other local vendors to create one-stop farm-to-table grocery shopping! They also enjoy Sang Lee, a farmstand selling organic produce as well as items from local artisans and producers. “Sang Lee is very close to Peconic Landing,” Pat explained. “We like it because we can eat there or bring the food home.”
