Beyond Words: What Animals Think and Feel presented by Carl Safina
March 30th @ 7:00 pm

Presented by the Lifetime Learning Speakers’ Bureau.
Does my dog really love me? Consciousness, self-awareness, empathy, non-verbal communication, imitation, teaching, grief—. Carl Safina shows, scientifically, that in some surprising ways many non-human minds are rather similar to ours.
Carl Safina’s lyrical non-fiction writing explores how humans are changing the living world, and what the changes mean for non-human beings and for us all.
The Safina Center at Stony Brook University advances the case for life on Earth by fusing scientific understanding, emotional connection and a moral call to action. Carl Safina is the Center’s Founding President. He is the recipient of a MacArthur ‘genius’ prize. Two of his books have been named to the NYTimes Notable Books of the Year.
