5. Member engagement plays a big role

Members of Peconic Landing say they feel a real sense of community with their neighbors and professional team. “Within a month of being here, the people were the main reason for feeling good about Peconic Landing, and that has held true all of these years,” said member Joe M.

Countless clubs and classes afford all members the opportunity to connect as much (or as little) as they would like!

6. Wellness opportunities mean healthy hobbies

Through Peconic Landing’s Successful Living initiative, interested members have an opportunity for self-discovery by reflecting on the activities they enjoy and seeing what passions or interests they might like to explore. Through the MasterpieceTM program, members focus on the four components of life experts say have a direct impact on aging – social, intellectual, physical, and spiritual.

Members can participate in free swim in the heated solarium-style indoor pool or take part in classes, including Restorative Aquacize or AquaZumba, a high-energy class that is always a party! On land, members can use the SMART Gym, the new fitness center outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment offering smart card capabilities. SmartBalance technology allows trainers to assess and design a personalized gym program for every fitness level. “Fitness Manager Libby’s creative enthusiasm, energy, and commitment help us stay strong, healthy, and happy in the gym and pool,” said member Louisa H.

With over 50 fitness classes like balance, aerobics, cardio and more offered each week, Peconic Landing strives to provide an activity of interest for every member. A wide range of indoor and outdoor recreation and fitness options are available from walking the beach or nature trails to playing on the bocce or tennis courts or taking classes like tai chi and yoga.

7. Find culture on and off campus

On campus, Peconic Landing members are regularly treated to live-streamed HD performances by the Metropolitan Opera, in-person workshops with world-famous ballet companies, and engaging classes taught by the renowned Manhattan Film Institute. Many cultural events take place at Brecknock Hall, a restored historic 19th-century Italianate mansion for large events and celebrations.

Landing Top 20 Picnic Together.A cultural icon on Long Island, the East End’s first interactive outdoor sculpture garden is located on the grounds of Peconic Landing. The award-winning sculpture garden showcases high-quality works by local and international sculptors that best complement and enhance this historic building and surrounding community landscape.

To bring out the artist in members, there is an art studio, for paint, sketch, watercolor lessons and more. There are also member-driven language clubs for Italian, Spanish and German. Member artwork is also displayed in the hallways of Peconic Landing.

The success of Peconic Landing’s cultural arts program is steered by passionate member involvement as well as partnerships with some of the greatest cultural institutions and artists in the world:
