Celebrating 20 Years with 20 Reasons Why Our Members Love Life at Peconic Landing (Reasons 1-4)

In honor of Peconic Landing’s 20th anniversary, let’s look at the 20 reasons why Peconic Landing members love life at this Long Island community. The first area highlighted by members was care. From the full continuum of on-site healthcare to the supportive team, Peconic Landing members feel secure and cared for in their surroundings!

1. Continuing care means peace of mind

With the rising cost of long-term care, Peconic Landing’s lifecare contract offers its members great peace of mind. A lifecare contract, similar to a long-term-care insurance policy, allows members to move from one level of living to another – assisted living, memory support, short-term rehabilitation and skilled nursing care – without an increase in fees.

“I wanted to find a place that had the continuing care. If the time comes, I know I’m going to have good care in a loving environment.” – Member Emily Y.

2. Friendly, caring team offers best-in-class care

Peconic Landing has received statewide recognition as a leading employer in New York. Team members build success by modeling and inspiring the core leadership values of integrity, collaboration, commitment, joy and pride.

And members agree!

“The staff is the most incredible bunch of people I’ve ever met in one place…That’s a place that has a culture and hires people that are good, and caring, and competent.” – Member Joanne B.

The members have even created a special fund for the Peconic Landing team that is distributed to employees annually.

3. Award-winning care goes beyond what is expected

Member care is exceptional on campus with a wide range of healthcare options to explore. The Center for Well-Being at Peconic Landing brings physicians from the renowned Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital, part of Stony Brook Medicine, to the North Fork with the opening of the 2,500 square-foot center. The Center offers primary care, rheumatology, orthopedic specialty services, and more to the entire community.

“No one wants to think about needing support systems (as we age), but we’re going to. The nice thing is, I now know it’ll be okay, and that’s a great feeling.” – Member Jan H.

4. Stability

As a CCRC, Peconic Landing offers short-term rehabilitation and long-term care right on campus, meaning that members don’t need to worry about making another big move if additional services are needed.

“After we retired, we thought, how many more moves do we really want to make? I wondered if we were moving to a CCRC too soon, but after coming here, I knew it was the right decision.” – Member Lucia T.

As an added benefit for couples where both individuals are lifecare members, the contract allows one member to continue to reside in his or her cottage or apartment home should the other need care in the Health Center – all at no additional cost.
